The Snorkeling and Scuba Diving on the Rainbow River are world-renowned. The Rainbow River is well known for its crystal clear water. On one of Florida’s numerous sunny days the visibility is tremendous and folks have been known to come up with an arrowhead or two. If you do plan to do some snorkeling, and it’s hard to think of a reason not to, remember to bring a dive flag and always snorkel safely!
The fishing on the Rainbow and Withlacoochee Rivers is spectacular whether you are a novice or seasoned professional. Both Rivers offer a chance to catch a variety of fish. The Withlacoochee River fishing is well known for its largemouth bass, sunfish and bluegill. If you ask nicely our marina attendant and local fishing expert can point you in the direction of some of the best locations to put a hook in the water. Head upriver on the Withlacoochee River to find largely undeveloped river. The Withlacoochee River is known for its deep water and good cover of grasses and fields of lily pads that help provide some great fishing.
Both the Rainbow and Withlacoochee Rivers, particularly the Rainbow, are known for their abundant wildlife.
Traveling on the Rainbow River you will see countless native birds from the Great Herons lurking in the high grass to the Anhingas diving into the river to bring up a fish. Downstream on the Withlacoochee River is Lake Rousseau famed for the amount of nesting birds seen in spring. Otters are a very common sight as well. Follow them along the river as they dive and hunt for fish and swim down river on their backs eating their fresh catch.
